Rashad Evans was fighting for respect. He didnt scream about demanding respect in his prefight interviews because hes smart enough to know that respect must be earned. He earned it and then some with a devastating 2nd round TKO of Chuck Liddell in the main event of UFC 88: Breakthrough.

If Evans needed any more validation of how little respect he was getting, he could have taken a look at the UFCs text message prediction poll of the main event which favored The Iceman by a whopping 81% to’% margin. Or he could have listened to the UFC announcers, who had all but penciled Liddell in for a return to light heavyweight title contention after his inevitable victory. Still, Evans never whined about being disrespected as is commonplace among professional athletes in the stick and ball sports. He let his fists do the talking and with a perfectly placed overhand right will likely never have to worry about a lack of respect again.

From the opening horn, Evans showed no fear of Liddells once legendary power. Instead, he danced and moved (which was dumbly criticized as showboating by the UFC announce team), using his slick footwork and speed to dart in and out of range of Liddells punches.

The end was to come in the 2nd round. Liddell backed Evans up near the cage wall and went to throw an uppercut. Simultaneously, Evans responded with an overhand right that landed quicker, harder and more accurately. The perfectly placed punch knocked Liddell out cold and referee Herb Dean jumped in to cover him up and wave off the fight without taking a second look.

Rashad Evans raised his record to 17-0-1 with the TKO victory. Liddell, meanwhile, saw his record drop to 21-6″with three of those six losses coming in his last 4 fights.

Liddells loss notwithstanding, it was a good night for UFC veterans as Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson won their fights in impressive fashion. Franklin looked particularly sharp in dismantling tough Matt Hamill, eventually prevailing by 3rd round TKO. Hamill had trouble getting inside for the takedown he needed to compete in the bout, and every time he closed the distance he was met with a barrage of Franklin punches and kicks. Franklin employed leg kicks early on, which obviously hurt Hamills ability to shoot for takedowns and ended the bout with a perfectly placed body kick that had Hamill doubled up and tapping out even as Mario Yamasaki covered the prone fighter.

This was the UFCs first trip to Atlanta and despite a good attendance the crowd itself was somewhat disappointing. In a marked contrast to the knowledgeable and enthusiastic fans at the Target Center in Minneapolis for UFC 87″arguably the best MMA crowd ever at a US venue”the live crowd at Phillips Arena often acted as if they were at a taping of Georgia Championship Wrestling.

More problematic was the crowds utter lack of respect for the fighters postfight. Poor Dong Hyun Kim was booed during his postfight interview like he was Professor Toru Takana cutting a heel promo on Mr. Wrestling 2 after winning the Georgia Heavyweight Title by throwing salt in his opponents eyes while the referee was distracted. Not quite the respect that a 4th degree judo black belt whod just won a very tough fight deserves. Even Rashad Evans was booed after his dominating KO victory.

It’s notable that a career within the electrical industry, with its attractive options, remains a choice for lots of people. From here on we will use the phrase of Electrical Industry to explain the more accurate term of “Electro-Mechanical Engineering”. Equally we’ll focus on those credentials that fit the UK domestic and commercial sector rather than those from around the world. By starting on the main subjects and checking the ‘add-ons’ later on we can review the centre of the electrical industry.

Really there are two main ways to enter the electrical market. The first is for those wishing to train via a more traditional apprenticeship route, and the second is for people who are entering the field at a later stage in life. To begin with we have the ‘Junior Entrants’ and then we have the ‘Mature Entrants’.

Many Mature Entrants enter the market so they don’t have to rely on others, especially when they can work on their own building ideas and not have to pay for anyone else to help them. By contrast, Junior entrants would seek to work with an established electrical firm and build their skill-sets as they train. During their first years in the working environment, a young apprentice, or junior entrant, will have a host of additional skills to learn.

These two distinct types of entry have two separate modes of training: In essence, the Junior Entrants follow an NVQ syllabus, or SVQ syllabus in Scotland. An NVQ qualification would need to be obtained as part of the training program. ‘Junior Entrants’ will have to be in an apprenticeship of some sort in order to achieve the testing and course work required.

Instead of seeking a work-based training environment, the Mature Entrant often seems to focus on working as a self employed person where different qualifications to NVQ’s are preferred. i.e. Those certifications that will get them up and running with the best financial return from their training investment. This system does meet the purposes set out and therefore often provides a faster and more direct route into a trading position.

Salaries are often simply broken down to those that relate to self -employed people and those in general employment. For the sake of this document we will assume that everyone involved in electrical employment is working full-time. The aptitude and talent for getting things done can affect the levels of salary as well as any experience or knowledge gained.

Although starting wages for ‘Junior Entrants’ are around 13k p.a. they can rise above 30k p.a. but this does depend on their level of experience. ‘Mature Entrants’ salaries though are often more difficult to work out, but can rise to 70.000 and above as reported in UK newspapers. Regardless of all that is the need to cover off additional costs such as tools, clothes and even a vehicle and all that goes along with that. In addition to this they will also have to allow for items such as accountancy and personal/professional insurance. That aside, whilst the work is open to market-forces to some degree, the current skills shortage in the UK means that there’s a high work-load available. Working 7 days a week is totally achievable for most people if they want it. It should be understood that the 70-100k figures that we see thrown around in newspapers are not easily achieved, and would either require working long hours or having assistants (or both.)

There is often a considerable differential between the working expectations of Mature or Junior Entrants. ‘Junior Entrants’ would normally be required to work Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. But due to the needs of the domestic market the Mature Entrant is often more reliant upon when their client base gets back from work. Although by testing and installing various business systems, many self-employed electricians manage to work during a normal working week.

Any specialist knowledge the Junior Entrant gains whilst in someone’s employ is usually down to the sectors of industry that company works in. Whereas the mature entrant can gain knowledge from any trade source - even one outside of the core of electrical work. Within the domestic market this allows them to work under a range of headings without having to rely upon sub contract suppliers.

‘Green Engineering’ is another area to consider. This requires new skills and working knowledge and is one of the fastest growing areas today. The chance to win some big employment and business advantages within the governmental as well as the traditional growth sector means that this area could be attractive to both Junior and Mature Entrants alike.

The law of attraction states; “like attracts like.” This basic idea forms the underlying principle beneath the popular movie “The Secret,” not to mention a number of practical self help books. The secret law of attraction directs you to focus on the positive to attract more positive into your life. It also directs you to undertake good deeds so that more good deeds will come back to you. There should be an emphasis on gratefulness and a focus on plenty, rather than obsessing over what’s lacking. Here are some manifestation exercises to help you understand how to use the law of attraction.

Many people wonder how to make use of the law of attraction to lose weight. It’s simple to become caught up on how many pounds you need to get rid of, however the keys to the laws of attraction comprise positive affirmations, positive imagery and positive objectives. Instead, jot down what it will feel like and the way your life will be different when you reach your goal. Next, take several deep breaths, close your eyes and picture your triumph and satisfaction. By doing this a few times weekly, you will produce a positive framework for achieving your goal.

Additionally, people wonder how to use the law of attraction to attract wealth. Some people practice law of attraction money meditations. When you close your eyes and listen to calming music, you will imagine yourself already successful and affluent. Some people wonder how to use the law of attraction to change a bad habit such as smoking. It helps to think of the law of polarity, with smoking at one end of the spectrum and fresh air at the other. Instead of focusing on quitting, many people find it helpful to focus on the enjoyment of fresh air. Take long walks, while focusing on breathing techniques. Focus on gaining health and energy. Spend some time hiking, biking and going to the beach. Start new positive hobbies like exercising or cooking healthier meals. The universal law of attraction will deliver positive results to you if you ask.

As soon as you learn how to utilize the law of attraction, your life will improve in multiple ways. Initially it seems uncomfortable to use positive affirmations day after day. You may feel like you’re “lying” to yourself or simply going through the motions, however theorists say it requires only 21 days to change your old habitual way of thinking into a more positive outlook. Having a pessimistic outlook or poor self-worth makes it just about impossible to get anything accomplished. Actually, the most successful Americans possess a positive, “glass half-full” approach to life. That’s what the secret law of attraction is all about.

The universal laws of attraction are definitely a “faith” based belief system. And their success is entirely contingent on how positively you think and act. You have to know exactly what you want and then you have to ask for it in order for the universal law to work.

The worlds most famous speed reading course is Reading Dynamics developed by Evelyn Wood. It’s famous for teaching people to read faster, or speed reading as she called it. Her live course was the first known course that taught students to read faster and it started with about 25 hours of training to double your reading speed.

Over time the method was made available all over the world. These well practiced techniques teach students to read more rapidly, and also comprehend more of what they are reading. These techniques have proven to be repeatedly effective with all ages in many countries all over the world.

There are many stories about how Evelyn Wood first learned speed reading. My personal favorite was that she, as a child, was fishing at a nearby lake in Utah where she was living. To Evelyn, fishing was a relaxing necessity, but her mind was always very active.

When fishing, she brought a book to read until she saw that the float on the fishing line was bobbing. Then shed reel in the fish. It was said that she read with the sun at her back for natural light, and used her index finger on her dominant hand to track under the words she were reading.

Every time when a fish bit, she just put down the book and started fishing again. That’s how it all started.

As she got older, she went to the University of Utah where one professor read and graded her 80-page research paper in about ten minutes. This came to 2,500 words per minute. He didn’t know how to tell his student what made is so he could read fast, nor how he developed his ability. He just read and could understand very quickly and efficiently.

Challenged by the potential to read that fast, Evelyn researched and studied fast readers to see if she could improve her reading speed and comprehension too. Then, she began to teach students herself, she figured out that it could be beneficial to them if she passed her skills on.

The desire to read faster and comprehend more is Universal. People all over the world were fascinated in, what turned out to be, Evelyn’s own techniques for speed reading and comprehension. As she expanded her research and investigation of speed reading, she found people from different parts of the world reading from 1,500 to 6,000 words per minute. All had an impressive level of comprehension proven by their knack for recalling specifics of the text.

She cataloged what each of them did to read faster and she discovered that each had their own traits and all of them had multiple traits in common with the others. along with these:

1. Words were seen, and read, by groups. 2. Readers identified patterns and key words when they scanned text, quickly identifying the purpose and theme behind the writings. 3. Readers also sped up or slowed down with the simplicity or complexity of the reading materials. This permitted them control of levels of comprehension.

Based on this the Evelyn Wood method was developed. Techniques were developed and tested.

In 1959, she was proficient and prepared enough to make a system that would teach others to speed read as well. Later that year, she opened the Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics Institute in Washington DC. John F. Kennedy was the first president to have his White House staff trained by the Evelyn Wood method.

Today, the Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics Institute no longer exists in the US. The rights were sold off to various publishers to market as courses, self-taught, and the remaining Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics teachers have private instructional practices. Some teachers are still healthy enough in their mid 6os and 70s to still teach the original technique.

Today, the few remaining teachers have departed their secrets to others, who have put the courses online for you to study. Though, you might learn from itinerant speed reading instructors who usually teach classes at community colleges, or private corporations throughout the US and beyond. In New Zealand, Australia, and Western Europe, some offices of the original Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics have survived the creator who past on over 20 years ago.

Since the 1990s, courses became available in audio, video VCR, and later, DVD, adding a convenience that Evelyn could never have even dreamed of when she first taught. Faster reading with greater comprehension can be obtained by students around the world by using the system that Evelyn Wood invented while fishing one sunny day.
