Relaxation music and meditation music, in several instances, are basically the same thing. Both can be used for meditation, relaxation, sleep and even as background music at a spa or during a yoga class. Hypno therapists also use different types of relaxation music or meditation music when working with their clients. There are so many more uses.

There thousands of different types of relaxation music available today, so many in fact, that perhaps some of us are a bit overwhelmed at times trying to figure out where to start as far as selecting the relaxation music style that fits our current need the most. One thing to take into consideration when trying to choose among the many different styles of relaxation music is that some types of relaxation may be more effective and more relaxing than others.

Both science and the experience of many people point to the usefulness of relaxation music that is embedded with either binaural beats or isochronic tones. Binaural beats and isochronic tones are specially generated sounds that alter your brainwave frequencies.

Different brainwave frequencies are associated with different mental states. So by listening to binaural beats or isochronic tones which are set at a certain frequency you can coax your brainwaves to that same frequency, and in doing so, achieve the mental state associated with that frequency.

For example, the alpha brainwave frequency of 9 hz is a very relaxing state of mind similar to what we experience just before sleep. So if you listen to binaural beats or isochronic tones that are tuned into a 9 hz frequency your brainwaves will move to a steady 9 hz level. Meditation accomplishes the same thing, but takes much longer.

Maybe relaxation is hard for you as well the motivation to meditate. Relaxation music embedded with either binaural beats or isochronic tones may be just the thing for you. Such relaxation music will gradually train your mind to become more relaxed. And as you experience the results, and your brain is retrained, you will look forward to times of quiet every day.

By themselves binaural beats and isochronic tones are plain sounding - just pulsing tones or beats in your ears. For this reason most companies who create binaural beat or isochronic tone recordings also add pleasant nature sounds, or ambient sounds, or new age music to their relaxation mp3’s and cd’s. These may be more expensive than your average relaxation audio products, but they are more effective.

Although it is more motivating to listen to musically backed versions of binaural beats or isochronic tones it is not necessarily all about how nice the music sounds. Rather it is about the effectiveness of the actual binaural beats or isochronic tones embedded into the music. They are therapeutic to listen to and, can change you mind, and your life in the same way as does years of meditation practice. But when listing to relaxation music embedded with binaural beats or isochronic tones there is no need to wait years or decades to experience results.

If you have ever asked yourself whether it is worth it or not to pursue a college degree, you have probably first considered the economic aspects. It is clear from all available evidence that someone with a college degree will earn more in his or her lifetime than someone who does not have a degree. However there even more compelling reasons to continue your education beyond high school and I would like to present them to you.

No doubt, a college degree is a prerequisite for getting many well-paying jobs. But just “getting a job” is not enough. You have to earn that high salary by being a productive employee and your productivity will depend on the power of your intellect to handle whatever task is placed before you. Education’s true importance is to develop your mind so that you can perform well.

In order to pass your exam, whether it is directly in a school or in your home working for an online degree, you will be expected to produce a lot of answers, a lot of “facts.” But will you be able to remember those “facts” a few weeks after your exam? Probably not, and several years later some of these “facts” will not be facts anymore.

Most likely, whoever is going to employ you will probably not be looking for someone who can merely recite memorized information, but will want someone with a “good head on his or her shoulders.” Should you continue your education and get a college degree, you will develop your thinking capacity and your creative capacity. This is the true value of higher education and is what would-be employers are really looking for.

There is something else that higher education can give you. It is a capacity to express your ideas clearly and convincingly. Even if you can think well and think creatively, you will need to explain your ideas to others and in many cases to convince them that your approach is the correct one. If you pursue a college education you will develop your writing skills and expressive capacity. These expressive skills will end up being much more important than memorization of information that will one day be either forgotten or no longer valid.

Last but not least, if you continue onward and attain a college degree you will acquire one more important skill. You will learn how to “learn.” Education doesn’t stop when you get your degree, it should continue through your entire life. If you plunge into a college-level course of study you will develop a love of learning and the ability to keep learning by taking advantage of books, the Internet, mass media and the as yet to be discovered means of communication that awaits you in the years to come.

Consider all of this and hopefully you will continue your higher education and get a college degree. It doesn’t matter whether you get it in a traditional college, on campus, or through an online degree. The important thing is to develop your thinking capacity with a good course of higher education.

Air pollution is decreasing the fragrance of flowers around us and making it difficult for insects to find them.

This was revealed by University of Virginia (UV) researchers who blamed cars and power plants for reducing the aroma of flowers by as much as 90 percent.

This, in turn, prevents pollinating insects like bees from finding food. To make things worse, the non-pollinated flowers won’t have a chance to grow and proliferate.

Researchers believe this explains the dwindling population of bees in several parts of the world, including California and the Netherlands.

The study was made by Jose D. Fuentes, UV professor of environmental sciences, and his students Quinn McFrederick and James Kathilankal. It was funded by the National Science Foundation and appears in the journal Atmospheric Environment.

“To investigate this, they created a mathematical model of how the scents of flowers travel with the wind. The scent molecules produced by flowers are very volatile and they quickly bond with pollutants such as ozone, hydroxyl and nitrate radicals, which destroy the aromas they produce. This means that instead of traveling intact for long distances with the wind, the scents are chemically altered and the flowers, in a sense, no longer smell like flowers. This forces pollinators to search farther and longer and possibly to rely more on sight and less on smell,” reported ScienceDaily.Com.

They found that the distances traveled by the scent of flowers were limited in today’s polluted world compared to the days before the automobile and the industrial revolution.

“The scent molecules produced by flowers in a less polluted environment, such as in the 1800s, could travel for roughly 1,000 to 1,200 meters; but in today’s polluted environment downwind of major cities, they may travel only 200 to 300 meters,” Fuentes revealed.

“It quickly became apparent that air pollution destroys the aroma of flowers, by as much as 90 percent from periods before automobiles and heavy industry. And the more air pollution there is in a region, the greater the destruction of the flower scents,” he added.

To preserve the beauty of flowers and prevent them from dying, do your share to stop air pollution. Walk instead of driving if you’re going to a nearby place. Ride a bicycle, join a carpool or shop by phone or mail.
