There is one thing that just about everyone has in their bathroom aside from the toilet, and the sink, that they tend to stay away from. The bathroom scale. Why do we stay away from it? Well generally because it tends to tell us things that we really didn’t want to know. Then of course there were the days of the mechanical scales.

You can remember standing on them watching the needle moving back and forth and the more you would bend down to look at the scale or move to see it better it would send it side to side even more. This, understandably, would make the scales accuracy questionable.

Fortunately now there are new digital scales available with crispy clear (no more needle) LCD displays, thus eliminating all the guess work involved with figuring out your weight and for this reason alone making them much more enjoyable to use. Another reason the new digital scales are becoming much more popular is that they are equipped with many other features you would not find on the old style mechanical bathroom scale.

A major difference between digital and mechanical scales is the ability of the digital models to track weight and recognize whether or not you tend to gain or lose weight by examining the currents of your body. However, in order to ensure accuracy you must make sure that you go on the digital scale at the same time and in the same condition each day. The condition refers to no clothing and using the bathroom before the scale.

Digital scales can also provide you with other information, like what percentage of fat you have in your body. These scales also help you to keep track of your progress when dieting. That is similar to having a personal fitness coach and is definitely a lot more than mechanical scales are capable of. However, just remember it is a scale and don’t start talking to it!

It can differentiate between different people for the most part, and with the leap forward in technology most scales can be made out of many different materials. Some of the modern scales are made of glass and they can support up to 300 lbs.

The bottom line is that the time has come to invest in a new digital scale and retire the old mechanical one. Not only are they designed with a sleeker style so that even your guests or visitors will be impressed with it, but the features these scales are equipped with are also amazing.

You don’t have to travel or park, there are no fees, and you can listen to whatever you want during your workout. In addition, you can take your shirt off and make all the noise you want when you workout without drawing any stares.

The downside, of course, is that purchasing your own home gym equipment can be an expensive up-front investment. (However, you may be able to resell the equipment later if you no longer need it.) You should always do these as compound exercises, following each by exercises that utilize similar muscle groups including lunges, bent over rows, lateral raises, shrugs, shoulder presses, upright rows, and curls with barbells.

5) Stay safe. If you’re workout out alone, don’t push yourself beyond your limit. Whenever possible, have a friend work out with you so they can spot you. As an additional safety measure, look for the kind of weight bench that lets you put a pin in the location that will keep the barbell from crushing your chest if you just can’t get that final lift. Use a similar safety measure on the squat stand.

If you set up a good, safe home gym, you can enjoy the convenience of working out right at home and building muscle without leaving your house.

Spray tans have become the number one way for people to keep that year round tanned look. It is the number of cases of skin cancer caused by too much exposure to the sun that has led to this rise in alternative but safer methods. The quickest and fast becoming the preferred method of having a fake tan is by using a spray tanning salon service. There are many fake tan creams available but a spray gives a much more even looking tan and is less likely to cause streaking.

Manufacturers, quick to join the rush, have produced home spray tanning systems. Whichever method you decide upon there are some simple but basic steps needed to ensure the best effect. Exfoliation is the first step as this rids the body surface of the dead skin cells. This can stop the situation where dead skin cells gradually drop off leaving paler patches of skin which immediately tells people you have a fake tan.

Once this process is complete, it is advisable to prepare your skin further by applying a moisturizing cream (or lotion) to it which will make the agent easier to apply. Secondly, you always want to wear gloves if you are applying the tanning agent yourself to avoid getting the dreaded orange palms which are a dead give away that your tan is fake.

Another tip, often ignored or forgotten, is to ensure that only a light coat is applied to the backs of the hands, feet and the joints as they show up darker and let everyone know that you have used a lotion or cream. Even spray tanning can cause the odd problem if there is an excess and it starts to run so take a towel you no longer want with you to wipe it off.

Always stay as still as possible after artificial tanning to allow time for the application to settle down and create an even coating. Consider what you are going to wear once you have applied the fake tan as it tends to stain objects, in particular clothing. The best advice here is to have a change of clothing that is darker than the color of the tan as this way it will not notice. Armed with this information it should be easier to have a fake tan that is safe and available all year round without anyone knowing what it is you are doing.

When it comes to U.S. energy prices, everything seems to be affected by demand. For instance, if there is a higher demand for oil, then the gas prices go up. Oddly enough the economic climate should have lowered the standard cost, but due to the demand in other countries, it’s a lot higher then we would expect.

Oil consumption worldwide increased by 28.6% between 1978 and 2004. It is only a small amount less than that, 25.8% of this year’s increase alone, that China is responsible for. South Korea’s demand for oil rose by a staggering 344% from 1978 to 2004, also widely increasing demand for oil. This growth in demand for oil has driven prices up to approximately $70 a barrel in the last quarter of 2009, from just $12 at the start of 1999.

You should also understand that the price which revolves around crude oil influences other fuel costs. You will find that electricity, gasoline and petroleum are the big three. It’s crazy to think that even though we’re going through a stressful time, prices are expected to rise when we reach 2010. This is because we’ll be well above our 1.25 million barrels we use each day right now.

However, you will see a drop again around the latter part of 2009. When we reach the increase though, you can expect to see a rise of 40c per gallon on gasoline. Even though this will be a major cost increase throughout each month, the good news is there will be a slight decline in the electricity side of things.

While the economy remains unstable, U.S. energy prices will be less certain. In the supply and demand chain, if fuel prices suddenly rise too high, demand will decrease as smaller businesses and companies can no longer afford production. However, while prices are on the decline it will help industry pick up again as their profits increase. The delicate balance should be maintained by both crude oil sales and industry relying on each other. Undoubtedly, as the economy picks up speed once more, crude oil prices will increase. It is only a matter of time before other fuel prices follow.

When looking at electricity consumption through the first half of 2009, there was a large decrease. In fact, according to sources the decreases fell short of 5% by only .6% in the prior year. In the second part of 2009 though, the decline has leveled out to around 2.3%. Hopefully the prices can remain low for the remainder of the year. When the economy settles though, the industry will start to receive their increase in costs once again.

The economy is mentioned constantly in relation to U.S. energy prices. As the international recession is far from over, it is expected to take at least a year for demand for fuel to rise back to the peaks of previous years. Since early 2008, prices have steadily declined in response to the sudden uncertainty in finance and industry that had led to worldwide economic recession.

One thing you will notice about crude oil prices is that they try to guess where the economy is headed. If it looks as though the U.S. is about to recover and prices rise, this boosts the cost of gasoline and petroleum. Then again, when there is an obstacle that comes to the forefront, the costs either remains stagnate or simply tumble until something else comes along. Take for instance the unemployment benefit claims. Even though they have declined, the level of unemployment still isn’t at an acceptable level.

With the lowered demand for energy, fuel stockpiles are much higher than expected. This is lowering the price, as more is available. Natural gas, for example, has stockpiles close to reaching a 5-year high. It will be a long time before demand outstrips supply once more and prices will significantly rise. However, while prices remain low, industry should be encouraged and the economy will be on its way to recovery.

For now, the U.S. energy prices have declined thanks to the lack of demand. While lower prices are great, the constant fluctuation around the world will continue this crazy roller coaster. So when 2010 rolls around expect to see an increase in gas prices, but in the meantime enjoy the lower prices.
