Do you want to make yourself more attractive to potential employers or clients? If the answer is yes, then you may want to consider learning English as a second language. English is fast becoming the international language of choice, and to compete in a “global economy” it is imperative that companies have individuals that can speak this language fluently.

Every attempt to learn English will be rewarded with knowledge. To achieve the goal of learning English, you have to work hard, and take baby steps. It won’t come over night; it will take months of practice. But stay determined, because it truly is a rewarding process.

Each time you face something difficult in life, you learn something — good or bad — from the experience. The same is true with English, although your goal is obviously to experience a positive reaction. The way you can be certain of achieving this is by working hard. It won’t be easy to learn English but so long as you put an effort in you’ll get positive results back.

Your employer may be looking for you to learn English (or looking for other employees who speak English) but one skill that will put you above the rest is your ability to speak casually. As much as slang is avoided in traditional ESL classes, it’s crucial to casual conversation as well as business. If your industry is sales you’ll want to be able to speak English in a familiar fashion that doesn’t sound forced or awkward.

Traveling to the United States to learn English is not such a far-fetched idea. It will give you the opportunity to experience the American culture, while helping you grasp every aspect of the English language. When it comes to the business world companies will see you as a valuable commodity when you are able to claim that you are bi-lingual. Every business needs individuals that can speak more than one language and English is one of the key languages that will make you look more appealing to potential employers. You will notice the difference in your professional life very quickly after you have mastered this language, in the form of both promotions and new responsibilities.
